Siriraj Faculty Abroad at 7th EVTM Symposium

Lecturer Dr. Tongporn Wannatoop, a Clinical Instructor of the Division of Trauma Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, delivered a special lecture on the topic “EVTM Education in Thailand” at the “7th EndoVascular Resuscitation and Trauma Management (EVTM) Symposium” in Örebro, Sweden, between December 3rd – 5th, 2021, to demonstrate how Siriraj can create the integrated program for surgical training with advance technology.

Robotic Surgery in Urology: Hands-on Wet Lab Training

On  August 24th, 2021, Assoc. Prof. Sittiporn Srinualnad, Head of the Division of Urological Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, presided and conducted a hands-on workshop for surgeons and healthcare professionals “Robotic Surgery in Urology: Hands-on Wet Lab Training” at the Training Center, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Mahidol University. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Sittiporn has demonstrated various robotic surgery techniques such as Intra-corporeal ileal conduit/neobladder (Sureform robotic staplers), Partial nephrectomy (Renorrhaphy technique), Robotic Radical Nephrectomy, and Heterotopic Kidney transplantation (vascular anastomosis and ureter reimplantation) for the participants (4 surgeons, a surgical nurse, a registered nurse, a veterinary anesthesiologist, and a medical technologist).

MIS -Minimally Invasive Surgery – APAN52

Minimally Invasive Surgery is now very popular in gastrointestinal tract surgery. There are many special instruments that have been developed for specific procedures such as endostaple, hemostasis device, and robotic system. On August 6th, 2021, Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Assoc. Prof. Vitoon Chinswangwattanakul, and Assoc. Prof. Asada Methasate, organized an online conference as part of the 52nd ASIA PACIFIC ADVANCED NETWORK VIRTUAL MEETING” on the topic “Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery and Robotic Surgery”. This conference will present 4 – 5 interesting cases from different MIS centers around the world using special devices, instruments, or new robotic systems.

Head Neck & Breast Training at Siriraj Surgery

On January 11th, 2021, Lect. Dr. Visnu Lohsiriwat, M.D. from Division of Head, Neck and Breast Surgery, Department of Surgery welcomed Dr. Teh Mei Sze from the University of Malaya Medical Centre, Malaysia to undertake a short training course on “Breast Oncoplastic and Reconstruction” at Department of Surgery from January 11th – April 30th, 2021.

Bariatric Innovations Webinar Conference 2020

On November 7th, 2020, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital presided over the webinar conference on “Bariatric Innovations” co-hosted by the Department of Medicine and the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

The webinar was held to provide an update and exchange knowledge on many interesting topics on bariatric innovation shared by renowned speakers from Siriraj and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, the USA such as Bariatric Endoscopy and Pitfalls, the Future of Robotic Bariatric Surgery, etc.

The 50th APAN Meeting Teleconference in MIS

On August 3rd, 2020, Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean of Administration delivered an opening remark to preside the webinar teleconference the 50th APAN Meeting in MIS broadcasted via zoom application.

Welcome Associate Professor Lau Tang Ching, Vice Dean Education From National University of Singapore and Dr. Alfred Kow, Medical Education from National University of Singapore visited to Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital Mahidol University on Friday 13th December 2019 from 8.00 AM – 9.00 AM at Udom Posakritsana Meeting room, 12th floor, Sayamindra building. For speaking in topic : Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education International ( ACGME – I )

Associate Professor Chanean Ruansetakit, Chairman of Department and team were interested in ACGME – I and talked about the education of surgery department.
