Excellent Extern Award, Pediatrics

25 September 2023: Assoc. Prof. Surachai Likasitwattanakul,
presented the Excellent Extern Awards to Mr. Poonyasit Dhanasomboon and Mr. Piyachock Tanapongpitaya the externs who had outstanding performance during their practice at Department of Pediatrics from 29 August 2023- 23 Spetember 2023.

 

Siriraj Signed MOU with Three Prestigious Institutes in Thalassemia and Gene Therapy

On July 18th, 2023, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and his administrative members: Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Assoc. Prof. Sith Sathornsumetee, Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thawonchai Limjindaporn, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Education; Prof. Dr. Vip Viprakasit from the Division of Hematology & Oncology, Department of Pediatrics; Assoc. Prof. Theera Ruchutrakool, Chief of the Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine & Assoc. Prof. Ekapun Karoopongse; presided over the MOU Signing Ceremony between the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and the BGI Health (HK) Co. Ltd.; Bangkok Genomics Innovation Public Co., Ltd.; and Hemogen Hong Kong Alpha Technology Limited. This MOU will focus on Thalassemia Screening and Gene Therapy Project between the four institutes.

Siriraj International Residents & Fellows Exchange Program 2023 (Round 4)

On July 17th, 2023, the Siriraj International Residency & Fellow Exchange Program Committee included Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, MD, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Asst. Prof. Kanokwaroon Watananirun, MD, Assistant Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations; Assoc. Prof. Thawornchai Limjindaporn, MD, Ph.D., Deputy Dean of Postgraduate Education; and Asst. Prof. Sani Baimai, MD, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education conducted an onsite interview session for the “Siriraj International Residency & Fellow Exchange Program 2023” fellows/residents: Dr. Thanut Boonhaijaroen and Dr. Nattamol Kosaiyaganonth from the Department of Ophthalmology (both third-year residents) and Dr. Varis Manomaivong from the Department of Pediatrics (a second-year fellow).

Also, the committee took the opportunity to review the onsite reflection presentations of participants from Rounds 2-3:

  1. 2nd-Year Fellow, Dr. Nichkamol Lertamornkitti from the Department of Pediatrics training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) from April 1st – 30th, 2023.
  2. 2nd-Year Resident, Dr. Vanthana Charoensawatsiri from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology training at Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine from April 10th – May 5th, 2023.

Furthermore, three fellows/residents submitted their online presentations as reflections to be reviewed:

  1. 2nd-Year Fellow, Dr. Nophathai Sojisirikul from the Department of Pediatrics training at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), USA, from April 1st – 30th, 2023.
  2. 3rd-Year Resident, Dr. Natrinee Naksupphamit from the Department of Pediatrics, training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, from April 1st – 30th, 2023.
  3. 1st-Year Fellow, Dr. Theeradej Tepkasetkul from the Department of Medicine training at the National Epilepsy Center, NHO Shizuoka Institute of Epilepsy and Neurological Disorders, Japan, from May 29th – June 23rd, 2023.

The review of these presentations allowed the committee and participants to understand the transformative impact of the exchange program on the residents and fellows involved. It also emphasized the importance of international cooperation and knowledge sharing in advancing the field of medicine on a global scale.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at PNS Annual Meeting 2023 in Denmark!

During June 17th-20th, 2023, Dr. Pimchanok Kulsirichawaroj, Clinical Educator from the Division of Neurology, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University delivered a Poster presentation on the topic “Novel Pathogenic Gene Variants in Thai Children with Inherited Peripheral Neuropathy” at “Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS) Annual Meeting 2023” in Denmark. The Study focuses on investigating gene distribution and demonstrating the genotype-phenotype correlations with a focus on pediatric-onset disease. Her contribution broadens research partnerships in the field.

The Peripheral Nerve Society is a global non-profit organization that unites scientists, physicians, and healthcare providers who are committed to studying and addressing disorders of the peripheral nervous system. Through collaborative endeavors, they actively support research, education, and the establishment of care standards in collaboration with patients and developers of treatments.

Siriraj Presents at ESPID 2023

From May 8th – 12th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Wanatpreeya Phongsamart, a highly skilled specialist in Pediatric Infectious Diseases from the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital Mahidol University showed her exceptional expertise and outstanding contribution in this field which was recognized and valued by her invitation to deliver an oral presentation on the topic “Immunogenicity and Reactogenicity of BNT162b2 mRNA Covid-19 among Children Previously Infected With SARS-Cov-2” at the “41st Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) 2023”, Lisbon, Portugal.
