Siriraj Attended the APTS 2023 Congress

The faculties of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended “The 4th Congress of Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS) – Thyroid: Controversies to Consensus” in Kochi, Kerala, India, between March 23rd – 26th, 2023, and participated this congress with different activities as follows:

Assoc. Prof. Warut Pongsapich delivered an oral presentation on “Clinical Value of Using Intraoperative Nerve Monitoring in Thyroid Surgery by Low Experience Surgeons: A Randomized Controlled Trial.”

Clin. Prof. Cheerasook Chongkolwatana was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on “Surgical Complications of Thyroid Cancer Invading Trachea.”

Lect. Dr. Prachya Maneeprasopchoke delivered a special lecture on “Using Intraoperative Nerve Monitoring in TOETVA.”

Dr. Parnwad Chairat presented a research e-poster on “Stimulation Probes Used for Intraoperative Nerve Monitoring in Endoscopic Thyroidectomy: A Comparison Study of Efficacy and Safety in Porcine Model” (the e-poster was supervised by Lect. Dr. Paveena Pithuksachai and Clin. Prof. Cheerasook Chongkolwatana.)

The 4th Congress of Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery (APTS) 2023 covered all aspects of thyroid and parathyroid disorders, cutting-edge knowledge and techniques, and strengthened friendships between members.

During January 17th – 21st, 2023, Dr. Vannipa Vathanophas, from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, delivered a presentation on the topic “The prevalence of high risk severe OSA in the children with Down syndrome by the Modified OSA-18 questionnaire” at IFOS DUBAI ENT World Congress 2023 hosted by the International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Society (IFOS) in Dubai, UAE.

During January 17th – 21st, 2023, Dr. Panutas Piyananthasomdee, from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, delivered a poster presentation on the topic “The study of salivary IL-8, salivary and plasma miR-21and miR-31 as potential biomarkers for oral squamous cell carcinoma” at IFOS DUBAI ENT World Congress 2023 in Dubai, UAE.

Prof. Sarun Prakairungthong, from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, delivered a research presentation on the topic “Effectiveness of 1% and 2% Acetic Acid Solution on 2 Week-Period Treatment for Granular Myringitis” at IFOS DUBAI ENT World Congress 2023 in Dubai, UAE.

On January 18th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongsakorn Tantilipikorn, Director of Siriraj’s Center of Research Excellence in Allergy & Immunology, and Assistant President for Research & Academic Affairs, Mahidol University, attended the “World Congress of Ear-Nose-Throat 2023” hosted by the International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Society (IFOS) in Dubai, UAE, as an invited speaker to deliver a special lecture on two topics, “Non-Allergic Rhinitis” and “Role of Allergy in Chronic Rhinosinusitis”.

Siriraj Organized “The Development of Ear Nose Throat Centre Project in Bhutan”

On December 1st, 2022, Prof. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, together with Ms. Pin Sridurongkatum, Secretary of the Department, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), and Assoc. Prof. Phawin Keskool, Chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, presided over the opening ceremony of a 2-day workshop, “The Rhinology Dissection Course,” between December 1st – 2nd, 2022. This year, TICA and Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have supported 2 Bhutanese medical doctors to attend the Rhinology Dissection Course at the Siriraj Training and Education Center for Clinical Skills (SiTEC).

This year, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University has organized short training programs between September – December 2022 under the project, “The Development of Ear Nose Throat Centre Project in Bhutan” supported by TICA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for 18 Bhutanese medical personnel (consisting of ENT doctors, audiometricians, hearing aid technicians, and biomedical engineers.) This project will contain 4 customized training programs as follows:

1. Audiometrician Workshop for Technicians.
2. Hearing Aids Trouble Shooting and Fitting Workshop.
3. Workshop for Maintenance Staff.
4. Fess/Rhinology Workshop.

Lastly, on December 2nd, 2022, Assoc. Prof. Phawin Keskool has summarized the final report of “The Development of Ear Nose Throat Centre Project in Bhutan” to Ms. Pin Sridurongkatum, Secretary of the Department, TICA, and Mr. Aeyaya Chorot, Attaché from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to exchanged their views and ways towards the next project.

Siriraj Attended “Immunology Molecular Allergology Congress (IMAC)”

During December 1st – 2nd, 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongsakorn Tantilipikorn, Director of Siriraj’s Center of Research Excellence in Allergy & Immunology, and Assistant President for Research & Academic Affairs, Mahidol University, attended as an invited speaker on the topic “Diagnostic Accuracy of Component-Resolved Diagnostic for Inhalant Allergy: A System Review and Meta-Analysis” at the “Immunology Molecular Allergology Congress (IMAC)” in Moscow, Russia.
