Siriraj Attended “V-ITALy’23” in Italy

During May 25th-27th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Nuttawut Sermsathanasawadi, M.D., Ph.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker at the international meeting “V-ITALy’23: VITAL state of the art & ADVANCEMENT” in Albarella Island, Italy. The V-ITALy’23 gathered top Experts from all continents and top industry representatives to analyze the met and unmet needs in Vein & Lymphatic practice, reaching out to the global community of Vein & Lymphatic health professionals, as well as to the patients, identifying the” VITAL” steps forward for proper advancement of Vein & Lymphatic care.

Prof. Dr. Tal Martin Hörer, a specialist in Vascular Surgery, Trauma, Endovascular and Hybrid Methods for Resuscitation and Bleeding Control from the Department of Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery and Department of Surgery, Örebro University Hospital and University, Sweden, to serve as a visiting scholar at the Division of Trauma Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, starting from April 24th – 28th, 2023.

Clinical Observership Program in Plastic Surgery at Siriraj

Welcome, Assoc. Prof. Zhao Xuelian (3rd from left) from Hebei Medical University No. 2 Hospital, the People’s Republic of China, to start her 6-month training program, “Clinical Observership Program in Plastic Surgery” at the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, between April 3rd – September 29th, 2023, under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Sorawuth Chu-Ongsakul (far left), Director of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Assoc. Prof. Zhao will focus her training on plastic surgery techniques (Fat Grafting, Scar Treatment, Breast Reconstruction, Auricle Reconstruction, Blepharoplasty, Photoelectric therapy, and Secondary deformities of cleft lip) and outpatient treatment.

Welcome, Mr. Tagawa Nobutaga, a 5th-year medical student from Kyoto University, Japan to undertake an elective study at the Division of Cardiov Thoracic (CVT) Surgery, Department of Surgery from April 17th – 28th, 2023, and Ms. Shirasu Koyuki, a 5th-year medical student from Okayama University, Japan to undertake an elective study at Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology from April 17th-28th, 2023.
Also, Mr. Takahashi Takuma, a 5th-year medical student from Okayama University, will undertake an elective study at the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, between April 17th-28th,2023, and Division of Trauma Surgery, Department of Surgery, from May 1ts – 12th, 2023 while Mr.Serizawa Satoshi, a 5th-year medical student from Okayama University, Japan will undertake an elective study at Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery from April 17th – 28th, 2023 and Department of Gastroenterology starting from May 1st – 12th, 2023.

Welcome, Ms. Ueno Aika and Mr. Kondo Takatora, 5th-year students from Osaka Medical and Pharmaceutical University, Japan to undertake elective study at the Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine from April 10th – 21st, 2023, then Division of Hematology, Department of Medicine and Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University from April 24th – May 5th, 2023.

Siriraj’s MIS Team Attended the SAGE 2023 Annual Meeting in Canada

The Minimally Invasive Surgery Unit, Department of Surgery, led by Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, Deputy Dean and Director of Siriraj Medical School, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, along with Dr. Chawisa Nampoolsuksan, Dr. Nathawadi Techalertsuwan, and Dr. Nattida Sapsamarn, attended the annual meeting, “SAGES 2023: INNOVATION FOR THE sAGES!” hosted by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) in Montreal, Canada, during March 29th – April 1st, 2023. The SAGES 2023 features hands-on longitudinal courses on the duodenal switch, the use of fluorescence, and various imaging procedures, as well as POEM/POP. The SAGE 2023 also highlights sessions on bariatric, foregut, hernia, colorectal, hepatobiliary, and acute care surgery hot topics, and Siriraj MIS Team has delivered the presentations and e-poster on the topics as follows:

Dr. Chawisa Nampoolsuksan on three topics: “Laparoscopic Cystectomy for Foregut Duplication Cyst”; “Laparoscopic Retrocaval Paraganglioma Tumor Removal with IVC hanging Technique”; and an E-Poster “Aerosol Protection Using Modified N95 Respirator for Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy: A Randomized Controlled Trial.”
