Siriraj Faculty Abroad in ACR Convergence 2022

During November 12th – 14th, 2022, Lect. Dr. Maynart Sukharomana of the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “The Structured Curriculum Development Significantly Increased the Pediatric Residents’ Competency and Confidence During a 4-week Pediatric Rheumatology Rotation” at the “American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Convergence 2022” in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This research will help contribute to the improvement of pediatric rheumatology education in Thailand and in the global community. The abstract has been published in the ACR Convergence 2022 Abstract Supplement of Arthritis & Rheumatology: Vol 74, No S9, and the ACR website.

On November 14th, 2022, Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, the former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with Prof. Thawatchai Akaraviputh, the Deputy Dean and Director of Siriraj Medical School, Prof. Kulkanya Chokephaibulkit, the former Director of Siriraj Institute of Clinical Research (SiCRES), Prof. Pa-thai Yenchitsomanus, Assoc. Prof. Peti Thuwajit, Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Education, Prof. Chanitra Thuwajit, Assistant Dean for Research and Innovation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suwattanee Kooptiwut, Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Education, Assoc. Prof. Oranee Sanmaneecha, Deputy Manager of Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE-M), Assoc. During November 10th – 13th, 2022, Lecturer Dr. Pattrapun Wongsripuemtet of the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the international conference “Asian Australasian Congress of Anaesthesiologists (AACA) 2022” in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and delivered a poster presentation on the topic “Prevalence of Residual Significant Tricuspid Valve Regurgitation in Patient Undergoing Left-sided Cardiac Surgery: A Retrospective Study.”

The AACA (Asian Australasian Congress of Anaesthesiologists) is the biggest four-year-round event of AARS, the Asia Australasian regional section of WFSA. This year, 25 member societies of AARS from 33 countries will join AACA2022 in Seoul, Korea in conjunction with the annual meeting of The Korean Society of Anesthesiologists and The Korean Pain Society. AACA2022 will become a showcase to share the latest information about Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, and Perioperative Medicine as well as Pain Management.

During November 9th – 12th, 2022, Prof. Aasis Unnanuntana, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “22nd National Congress of Indonesian Orthopaedic Association 2022″ in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, as a guest speaker on the topic “Clinical Application of RANK-Ligand Inhibition in Osteoporosis: Denosumab” and “A comprehensive Treatment of Elderly Hip Fracture.”

Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, the Deputy Dean for Corporate Communications and International Relations, and Assoc. Prof. Pravit Akarasereenont, the Director of the Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, welcomed Prof. Dr. Yeon Seok Kang from the College of Korean Medicine, Wongwan University, The Republic of Korea, and Prof. Michael Heinrich from the School of Pharmacy, University College London, UK, to serve as the visiting scholars at the Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, during November 4th – 11th, 2022 (Prof. Dr. Yeon Seok), and November 7th – 11th, 2022 (Prof. Michael Heinrich).

During November 9th – 11th, 2022, Ms. Suyanee Thongchot, Ph.D., a researcher from the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “17th International Symposium of the Protein Society of Thailand (PST2022)” in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and delivered an oral presentation on the topic “The induction of nucleolin-specific T cells against triple-negative breast cancer by immunogenic nucleolin short peptides” which is later has been awarded as the Outstanding Oral Presentation Award!

The International Symposium of the Protein Society of Thailand is a major event that offers opportunities to meet the people in the protein society of Thailand. On November 7th – 10th, 2022, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, hosted a 3-day workshop “the 41st International Temporal Bone Surgical Dissection Course”. This course has 2 world-renowned neurotologists as guest faculties: Dr. Carol A. Bauer from HSHS St. John’s Hospital, USA, and Dr. Herman A. Jenkins, from the University of Colorado, USA.

On November 10th, 2022, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongsakorn Tantilipikorn, Director of Siriraj’s Center of Research Excellence in Allergy & Immunology, and Assistant President for Research & Academic Affairs, Mahidol University, attended the “12th Singapore Sleep, Allergy & Rhinology Conference (SARC)” and delivered a special lecture on the topic “Allergen Immunotherapy: Current Evidence and Future Direction” at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore.
