On April 7th, 2023, Prof. Achichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, presided over “The White Coat Ceremony” for Siriraj’s Extern (6th-year medical student) class of 129! The ceremony was well-attended by Siriraj’s Administrative Board Members, Department Chairs, and Undergrad Lecturers!
Siriraj’s Extern is a 6th-year medical student who studied and practiced their clinical years with actual patients. The Extern will work with an attending physician and perform clinical duties such as assessing patient histories and performing physical examinations. All extern tasks are done at Siriraj Hospital under the supervision of the Professor (licensed attending physician.)

Congratulations to Siriraj Medical Simulation Center for Education and Training (SiMSET) for being accredited “Provisional Accreditation” by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), USA!
The SSH’s Provisional Accreditation allows programs with established structure and processes, but have not yet achieved outcomes to apply for preliminary accreditation. Current Full SSH Accreditation Standards require demonstrating outcomes. Because of this requirement, simulation programs are required to be in operation for a minimum of two years prior to seeking accreditation. Provisional Accreditation is granted for two (2) years and allows simulation programs to seek accreditation earlier by focusing on the structure and processes to accredit those aspects of the applying program. Programs seeking SSH Provisional Accreditation will demonstrate compliance with Core Standards and Teaching/Education Standards.
Follow the life of Siriraj’s 5th-year medical student who spends his day learning and practicing to increase accuracy and proficiency in surgical skills and also balancing the studies, the work, and the personal life, to become a Siriraj surgeon who is “good (in skills), decent (in attitude), and happy (in life)!”

Siriraj Liver Transplant Center started transplanting livers to patients since 1990. So far, the hospital liver transplantation program has done more than 420 transplants. Every transplantation requires multidisciplinary medical personnel aiming for the same purpose, to help patients return to live happily with their families!
