Siriraj International Visiting Scholar at the Department of Immunology

Welcome, Prof. Gregory J. Bancroft, Professor of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK, to serve as Siriraj International Visiting Scholars at the Department of Immunology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, starting from May 22nd–June 2nd, 2022.

Prof. Bancroft is specialized in immunology, modeling, and vaccinology, with over 30 years of experience in this field. His current research relates to understanding the mechanisms of pathogenesis and the development of novel vaccines against two critical pathogenic bacteria, M. tuberculosis, and B. pseudomallei. Also, he uses approaches of experimental modeling, cell mediated immunity, and imaging in studies on the causative agent of melioidosis (B. pseudomallei), a significant cause of septic death in rural Thailand and northern Australia.

Rockefeller Foundation Visits Siriraj

On May 19th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, extended a warm welcome to Ms. Natalye Paquin, Chief Operating Officer and distinguished guests from Rockefeller Foundation: Ms.Erica Guyer, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary; Ms. Cory Milam, Chief Technology Officer; Ms.Deepali Khanna, Vice President of Asia Regional Office; Mr. Eric Arndt, Director of Asia Regional Office; and Ms.Busaba Tejagupta, Director of Operations & Grants Management Asia Operations on visit at Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, and Prince Mahidol Museum led by Adjunct Prof. Sanjai Saengwichian.

The relationship between Siriraj and Rockefeller Foundation rooted in history, has witnessed remarkable milestones, including our pivotal role in establishing the Royal Medical School, which stands today as the revered Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital.

Florida Gulf Coast University Visits Siriraj

On May 15th, 2023, Siriraj Palliative Care Center, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University led by Mr. Puchong Chimpiboon, Music Therapist welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dena Register, Assoc. Prof. Kimberly Sena Moore, and a group of music therapy students from Florida Gulf Coast University, USA to visit and discuss at Siriraj Palliative Care Center which was part of “Music Therapy in Thailand Study Aboard, 2023” running from May 10th – June 23rd, 2023. On this occasion, our guests attended the lecture on the topic “Thai Culture and Believes relates to Health issues” by Dr. Anuwat Taweesuwanakra, M.D. as well as visited the Siriraj Bimuksthan Museum and Center of Applied Thai Traditional Medicine.

 

Siriraj has a longstanding relationship with Assoc. Prof. Register, founded the first music therapy program in Southeast Asia at the College of Music, Mahidol University. Through this visit and music therapy exchange opportunity, both parties aim to promote music therapy by conducting remote conferences, exhibitions, and music therapy services.

Siriraj Showcased at ESTRO 2023!

On May 14th, 2023, the researchers from the Division of Radiation Oncology, Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University: Assoc. Prof. Pittaya Dankulchai, Dr. Wiwatchai Sittiwong, and Dr. Tissana Prasartseree, a 3rd-year resident, took the stage at ESTRO 2023 in Vienna, Austria, showcasing their expertise by captivating the audience on the topic “17:15 HYPOCX-iRex (TCTR20210812003): a Phase II RCT comparing 44Gy/20F versus 45Gy/25F CCRT in Cervical Cancer.”

ESTRO‘s mission is to elevate radiation oncology as a fundamental pillar in multidisciplinary cancer care. This year’s congress theme, “From innovation to action,” focuses on translating and implementing cutting-edge research into practical applications in commitment to advancing the field of radiation oncology and improving patient outcomes.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at the XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting

Asst. Prof. Yuwarat Monteerarat from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered an oral research presentation on the topic “Comparing Posterior interosseous nerve strain in lateral surgical approach to radial head: A cadaveric study” at the “The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting” between May 10th – 13th, 2023, in Rimini, Italy.

The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting is a scientific program themed “From Basic to Controversy” by the Scientific Committee of the FESSH Congress. This Joint Congress will see surgeons and therapists join their efforts and experiences from all over the world and discuss some hot topics such as fractures and malunions of the distal radius, longitudinal instability of the forearm, flexor and extensor tendons pathologies, microsurgery, congenital and pediatric hand pathologies, failures, incorrect management of hand injuries, and a very stimulating discussion and comparison of experience between experts on wrist surgery and radiologists.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at the FESSH-EFSHT 2023 Congress in Italy

Asst. Prof. Panai Laohaprasitiporn from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered an academic research presentation on the topic “Effect of Shorter Nerve Graft and Selective Motor Branch of Recipient Nerve on Nerve Transfer Surgery for Elbow Flexion in Patients with Brachial Plexus Injury” at the “The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting” between May 10th – 13th, 2023, in Rimini, Italy.

The XXVIII FESSH & EFSHT Meeting is a scientific program themed “From Basic to Controversy” by the Scientific Committee of the FESSH Congress. Prof. Wanatpreeya Phongsamart, a highly skilled specialist in Pediatric Infectious Diseases from the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital Mahidol University showed her exceptional expertise and outstanding contribution in this field which was recognized and valued by her invitation to deliver an oral presentation on the topic “Immunogenicity and Reactogenicity of BNT162b2 mRNA Covid-19 among Children Previously Infected With SARS-Cov-2” at the “41st Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) 2023”, Lisbon, Portugal.
