“Enhancing Professionalism: English Presentation Skills & Technique” Workshop Empowers Employees

On June 2nd, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Prapat Wanitpongpan, Deputy Dean for Corporate Communication and International Relations, presided over a workshop titled “English Presentation Skills & Technique” at Meeting Room 901, 9th Floor, Siriraj Medical Research (SiMR) Building. The workshop was designed to provide our employees with a valuable opportunity to enhance their presentation skills in English, with a focus on both language proficiency and effective presentation techniques.

Led by Mr. Adriano Quieti, Lecturer of the International College of Mahidol University, the workshop aimed to address the crucial skill of English presentation in the workforce. By improving their presentation skills, our employees would not only enhance their language abilities but also their overall approach to delivering presentations.

This workshop was part of our broader Staff Competency Development Training Strategy, which aims to promote professionalism among our employees. Proficiency in delivering presentations in English plays a pivotal role in raising the visibility of our faculty on the international stage. Therefore, the “English Presentation Skills & Technique” workshop was a significant step towards achieving this goal.

The 3rd teleconference with Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) for Siriraj Center of Research Excellence in Cardiovascular Diseases

          On May 31st, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Oranee Sanmaneechai, Assist. Prof. Dr.Woraphat Ratta–apha, Deputy Manager and staffs from Siriraj Center of Research Excellence Management Unit (SiCORE–M), along with Prof. Rungroj Krittayaphong from SiCORE-Cardiovascular Diseases (SiCORE-CVD) and researchers scheduled the 3rd teleconference with Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) members, Prof. Gregory Lip from University of Liverpool, Prof. Gemma Figtree from University of Sydney and Assoc. Prof. Jin Joo Park from Seoul National University.

During the meeting, we discussed the research outputs and evaluated overall performance of our research program in Cardiovascular Diseases. The project entitled “Leading cardiovascular research towards the impact in the improvement in standard of care” , which this project has reached their 3rd year under the support of the Research Excellence Development Program (RED Program).
In this regard, SiCORE–M team and SiCORE–CVD would like to express our sincere appreciation to SAB members for their valuable time and continuing support. Notably, the insights and experience-sharing derived from this meeting are crucial mechanisms that will benefit us in leveraging our research quality based on scientific comments and recommendations. We look forward to the onsite visit on August 3rd -4th, 2023.

Siriraj Attended the International Conference in Taiwan

On May 27th, 2023, Prof. Weerasak Muangpaisan of the Division of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited to be a guest speaker about dementia at the “International Conference on Integrated Care in Old People with Dementia” hosted by the Center for Geriatrics and Gerontology, Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan. This conference was focused on medical treatment, mental problems management and care for older people with noncommunicable diseases (e.g., dementia).

During May 25th-27th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Nuttawut Sermsathanasawadi, M.D., Ph.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker at the international meeting “V-ITALy’23: VITAL state of the art & ADVANCEMENT” in Albarella Island, Italy. The V-ITALy’23 gathered top Experts from all continents and top industry representatives to analyze the met and unmet needs in Vein & Lymphatic practice, reaching out to the global community of Vein & Lymphatic health professionals, as well as to the patients, identifying the” VITAL” steps forward for proper advancement of Vein & Lymphatic care.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at the American Thoracic Society Conference 2023 in USA

Assoc. Prof. Chairat Permpikul, the Chairman of the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to present a special lecture on the topic “Fluid and Vasopressor Resuscitation in Early Sepsis: When, Which, and How Much?” at the “American Thoracic Society Conference 2023” between May 19th – 24th, 2023, in Washington, DC, USA. The American Thoracic Society (ATS) Conference 2023 offered the latest information on clinical, basic, and translational science in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine.

The American Thoracic Society improves global health by advancing research, patient care, and public health in pulmonary disease, critical illness, and sleep disorders. Founded in 1905 to combat TB, the ATS has grown to tackle asthma, COPD, lung cancer, sepsis, acute respiratory distress, and sleep apnea, among other diseases.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at ESPO 2023 in UK

Asst. Prof. Vannipa Vathanophas from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research poster presentation on the topic “Prevention of ENT Comorbidities in Children with Allergic Rhinitis” at “The 16th Congress of the European Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO 2023): Science, Clinicians and Families – Better Together” between May 20th – 23rd, 2023 in Liverpool, UK.

The ESPO 2023 features academic program presentations on cutting-edge research and complex cases and opportunities to interact and learn from renowned authorities in all fields of pediatric Otorhinolaryngology.
