Siriraj Faculty Abroad at ‘IEEE EMBC 2023 Conference’ in Australia

Lecturer Dollaporn Anopas, M.D., of the Division of Nematology, Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and presented an academic poster on the topic “Unsupervised Learning for Real-Time and Continuous Gait Phase Detection” at The 45th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (IEEE EMBS 2023) between July 24th – 27th, 2023, in Sydney, Australia.

The Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC) dedicates itself to helping the biomedical engineering community achieve its goals. Since its first technical conference in 1960 in London, England, EMBC is known for convening academics, clinicians, industry, students, and researchers in the biomedical engineering and Medtech community. Prof. Thawornchai Limjindaporn, M.D., Ph.D., Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Education, and Prof. Woraphong Manuskiatti, M.D., Assistant Dean for Postgraduate Education, delivered a welcoming address to the international Residents & Fellows on the orientation ceremony “Siriraj International Residency & Fellowship Training Program Orientation 2023” at Siriraj Medical Library, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. This orientation aims to welcome and provide all necessary information on life at Siriraj, history, culture, advice & experience sharing, and Siriraj’s one-stop services, including the ice-breaking activities for all newcomers of Siriraj’s international residents and fellows!

Siriraj Attended “20th World Congress in Fetal Medicine” in Spain

Prof. Kanokwaroon Watananirun of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended and delivered a research presentation on the topic “Duration of tracheal occlusion matters in congenital diaphragmatic hernia” at the “20th World congress in Fetal Medicine” hosted by the Fetal Medicine Foundation between June 25th – 29th, 2023, in Valencia, Spain,

The World Congress in Fetal Medicine is designed for specialists in fetal-maternal medicine and a more general clinical interest who want to be updated on developments in the field. Leading international experts and young researchers will present and discuss the latest developments in fetal medicine.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at SNMMI 2023 in USA

Assoc. Prof. Tanyaluck Thientunyakit from the Department of Radiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest moderator and lecturer at the international conference “Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging 2023 Annual Meeting” in Chicago, Illinois, USA, between June 24th – 27th, 2023. In this meeting, Assoc. Prof. Thientunyakit has delivered a research presentation on the topic “Imaging Investigation of Regional Metabolic Activity, Cerebral Small Vessel Disease, and Amyloid Pathology in Early Alzheimer’s Disease: Synergistic Pathophysiology” (which has been awarded “International Best Abstract Award”); delivered a lecture on the topic “Reading with Experts”; and also moderated on a “Neurosciences Integrated Session: AI/Machine Learning and Quantification”.

The SNMMI 2023 Annual Meeting is recognized as the premier educational, scientific, research, and networking event in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. The four-day event, taking place each June, provides physicians, technologists, pharmacists, laboratory professionals, and scientists with an in-depth view of the latest research and development in the field as well as providing insights into practical applications for the clinic.

Between June 14th – 23rd, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Pornpan Koomanachai of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, visited the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center as a guest lecturer & speaker for the UCLA’s medical students, residents, and fellows on the following topics (respectively):

June 20th: Online Conference co-teaching on “Heart-Lung Transplant Infectious Disease.”

June 21st: Co-teaching on the topic “Heart-Lung Transplant Infectious Disease” & attended the UCLA Medical Center’s Fellows Clinic for a “talk session” with UCLA’s medical students, residents, and fellows.

June 22nd: Co-teaching on “Kidney-Bone Marrow Transplant Infectious Disease.”

June 23rd: Co-teaching on “Neurology and Neurosurgery Infectious Disease.”

Certification Ceremony at Siriraj Otorhinolaryngology

Prof. Phawin Keskool, Chairman of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, along with the Faculty Members of the Division of Laryngology, Head & Neck Surgery Division, delivered a certificate of completion to Dr. Giacomo Gravante from the University of Insubria, Italy, who successfully completed a short training program “Short Training Program in Head & Neck Surgery” at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology between March 1st – June 30th, 2023.
