During September 17th – 21st, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Nuttawut Sermsathanasawadi, M.D., Ph.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on the topic of “Complications of Cyanoacrylate Closure -hypersensitivity Reaction, Cyanoacrylate Granuloma, “Thrombus Extension After CAC” and also delivered an oral presentation on the research topic “Outcomes of Treatment of Concomita”t Ilioca” al Venous Obstruction and Superficial Venous Reflux in Venous Leg Ulcer”Patients” at the UIP 2023 World Congress – Connecting the Continent, Welcoming the World in Miami, USA.

The UIP 2023 World Congress is a leading international medical conference devoted to venous and lymphatic medicine! Gather with peers across the globe to learn the latest science and best practices in venous and lymphatic medicine. Network with medical practitioners from each continent to broaden your perspective of venous and lymphatic medicine and improve participants’ practice through an international exchange of ideas. Siriraj Faculty Abroad at the IASP NeuPSIG 2023!

September 7th – 9th, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Nantthasorn Zinboonyahgoon, M.D., Chairman of the Division of Pain Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, took part in ‘The IASP Neuropathic Pain Special Interest Group (NeuPSIG)’ in Lisbon, Portugal, presenting a poster on “Efficacy of Spinal Cord Stimulation.” This event further solidified Siriraj Hospital’s global recognition.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at the “17th IOIS Congress” in Germany

On September 6th – 9th 2023, Asst. Prof. Pitipol Choopong, MD., from the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended the “17th International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS) Congress” in Berlin, Germany, as a moderator/speaker for the session “Artificial intelligence in Uveitis, Case Presentations – Uveitis Society of Thailand (UST)” and delivered a special lecture/presentation on the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Ophthalmology in Thailand.” This meeting is a unique gathering of 34 international societies, 14 Sections, free papers, and Special Interest Symposia, robust scientific sessions that cover a broad spectrum of intraocular and extraocular inflammatory and infectious disorders. Particular focus also on recent advances in ocular imaging, current knowledge of the underlying inflammatory pathogenesis of disorders, i.e., age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, comprehension of inflammation-related eye diseases, and recent scientific progress on novel therapeutic approaches, including surgical interventions in uveitis complications, i.e., medical and surgical management of inflammatory ocular surface diseases, keratopathies, glaucoma, and retinopathies.

The 17th IOIS Congress provided a unique opportunity for educational and scientific exchanges for academic and clinical researchers, healthcare professionals, and health industry representatives. Siriraj Faculty Abroad at ‘2023WHCS’ in Singapore

Assoc. Prof. Sqn. Ldr. Khamin Chinsakchai, M.D., from the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a special lecture on the topic “Endovascular Strategies and 10-Year Outcomes for Treatment of Asymptomatic Abdominal Aortoiliac Aneurysm” at the international conference ‘The 2023 World Heart and Cardiothoracic Surgery Conference (2023WHCS)’ held during September 8th – 9th, 2023, in Singapore. Assoc. Prof. Chinsakchai has presented his work in treating patients, shared experiences, and exchanged knowledge in various aspects of vascular surgery.

“4-Week Diabetic Foot Care Training Program by SiIDLECT” at Siriraj

Welcome, Dr.Fitri Anestherita (a Physiatrist) and Mr.Harianto Tri Nugroho (a Prosthetist/Orthotist) from Dr.Cipto Mangunkusumo National General Hospital, Indonesia, to undertake the short training program, the “4-Week Diabetic Foot Care Training Program by Siriraj Interdisciplinary Diabetic Lower Extremity Care Team (SiIDLECT)”, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, from September 4th – 29th, 2023, under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Gulapar Srisawasdi, Director of Sirindhorn School of Prosthetics and Orthotics (SSPO) and Chairwoman of the Subcommittee of Siriraj Interdisciplinary Diabetic Lower Extremity Care Team (SiIDLECT).

“Clinical Observership Program in Otology” at Siriraj

Welcome, Dr.Bigesh Man Shakya, an otologist from Dhulikhel Hospital, Nepal, to undertake the short training program, the “Clinical Observership Program in Otology” at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, from September 4th – 29th, 2023, under the supervision of Assistant Professor ML. Kanthong Thongyai. Dr.Shakya aims to gain more profound knowledge in otology diagnosis and management, gain more experience in cholesteatoma, stapes, and cochlear implant surgeries, and increase clinical competence in diagnosing and managing complex hearing and balance disorders after he finishes his training.

Student Board Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga Visits Siriraj

On August 29th, 2023, Mr.Khemmawit Siriwong and Mr.Korapat Arukvichanan, the President and Vice-President of Siriraj Medical Student Union (SMSU), Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, welcomed the representatives of the Student Executive Board (BEM KM) of the Faculty of Medicine at Airlangga University (UNAIR), Indonesia (consists of sixteen undergraduate medical students), on the student visiting program named “Study Tour and Comparative Lessons Regarding Campus Activities (SCLERA)”, to expand the institutional networking, improve student’s insight, knowledge, and a new environment of students in other universities globally. The discussion between the two parties focused on Research Activities, International Delegations, and International Academic competitions.

Siriraj Faculty Abroad at the 18th CAST Congress in Hong Kong

August 25th – 28th, 2023, Asst. Prof. Parichat Tovikkai, M.D., a lecturer of the Department of Anesthesiology, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, attended ‘The 18th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation (CAST)’ in Hong Kong, China, and presented an oral presentation on the topic “The Association of Intraoperative Hypotension During Orthotopic Liver Transplantation and Post-transplant Outcomes.” This conference is renowned as one of the most prestigious in Asia. Only 10 abstracts related to liver transplantation were selected for oral presentation and Asst. Prof. Tovikkai’s abstract was among them! This accomplishment underscores Siriraj Hospital’s recognition as one of Thailand’s most successful liver transplantation centers and possibly throughout Southeast Asia!

The 18th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation (CAST) is a biannual transplant congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation, aiming to provide transplant clinicians with a broad program covering a diverse range of topics, from cutting-edge science to ethical issues in transplant. Issues related to challenges in developing transplant programs and promoting organ donation in Asia will also be a highlight of this meeting.

Siriraj Secures Awards at the “19th Inter-Medical School Physiology Quiz” in Indonesia!

Congratulations to the representatives from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, for their outstanding achievements at the “19th Inter-Medical School Physiology Quiz (IMSPQ)” hosted by the Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta City, Indonesia, from July 29th – 30th, 2023. The accolades earned by Siriraj participants are as follows:

“The 3rd Winner Team Prize” (competed among a total of 72 teams from medical schools around the world!) was clinched by the Siriraj team comprising our 3rd-year medical students as follows:

3) Ms. Atsuki Matsuzawa

The top 10 Individual Prizes for the “Best Written Test Scores” were secured by Siriraj as follows:

Mr. Tanakrit Kamonsumlitpon, who secured the “6th Best Written Test Score”, and Mr. Kittikorn Wilasrusmee, who earned the “8th Best Written Test Score”. Furthermore, the team from the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, also claimed the “2nd Highest Team Score” in the Written Test Round among all 72 teams!
